Spaeth joins GCSECA
Colin W. Spaeth has joined Grand Canyon State Electric Cooperative Association as a Loss Control Specialist. He has more than eight years in the corporate safety training experience. Colin started October 10.
He said, "This position is going to allow me to use my skills, education and experience in hope of seeing the employees of the member utilities of GCSECA make it home safely every day. That is what this job is all about, seeing our workers make it home in one piece every day."
Dale Kishbaugh, GCSECA's director of loss control and safety services, says, "Colin's extensive background in safety training and safety management is a great asset which will benefit our member cooperatives and associate member utilities."
Colin previously worked for Arizona's largest plumbing contractor, Brewer Companies, as safety manager. While there for two years, he was responsible for managing the organization's worker's compensation program and providing OSHA training.
Prior to his work there, he served as the risk management specialist for the City of Flagstaff for one year. His duties included coordinating the worker's compensation program and providing safety training. He also investigated and reviewed safety processes after safety incidents.
In 2014 Colin earned a Bachelor's of Science degree in Business Administration with emphasis in Management from Northern Arizona University.
Colin began his safety career as the union safety representative at SCA Tissue N. America in Flagstaff. In addition to training responsibilities, he conducted accident/incident investigations and managed their safety standard operating procedures and rules.
Colin has the following; dust control competent person certification from Maricopa County; trenching & excavating competent person certification; OSHA 10 hour card in construction; basic CPR & first aid certification; and rough terrain & warehouse forklift certification. He is also members of the American Society of Safety Engineers and American Subcontractors Association.
